Problem Solvers and More!

I just wanted to write a quick note to say how proud I am of your kids tonight!  About two weeks ago, the Climate Team was looking for a class to do a presentation in front of the school on something that we are learning about in Open Circle.  I volunteered our class since they're so fabulous.
The students were split into groups of three or four and had to design a skit that showed all the steps to Problem Solving (STOP, THINK, GO).  They wrote and acted out their own short skits.  Yesterday, we practiced them in the gym for the first time and the students voted for their favorite performance, based on how well it taught the lesson, how loud they were, and how they did at facing the audience.  The vote was close, but one emerged a winner.
Today, we had just enough time for that group to practice it once or twice, one student prepared a speech to explain what the audience would see, and the rest learned a line to recite with feeling.  The assembly was today and they did a marvelous job!  I'll post some pictures so you can see.

Today we also studied more about the American Revolution (ask your child about the protesting that colonists did and the taxes and acts we were upset about), worked on expanded form with decimals, and did a fun activity, where students wrote short scripts for their "robots" using as many adverbs as possible, and their "robot" acted them out.
