Mackenzie:
We use a lot of vocabulary. We use the words in a lot of sentences like "nudged". Here's a sentence for you: I nudged my sister in the snow and after I got in a lot of trouble.
Recess is a wonderful thing but I like basketball better. Basketball is a lot of fun because you can have fun winning. You will like it. I guarantee you will like it.

Hugh:
Today's sports is brought to you by Hugh. Hello! I'm Hugh and I'm with New Franklin boys basketball news. Well, I've just got in word that both NFS boys and girls are the number one team on the list. Well, I'm here with Jeremy Cioti*. "Hi guys. I've got a few things to say about my team. Their passing is improving, their defense is phenomenal and my offense is good as well." The boys are 7-0 and the girls are 6-1. The teams that the boys are versing, their score is like a ghost town. The NFS boys have scored over 30 points a game. Watch out because Thursday's practice is going to be hard. That's it for this broadcast. We'll see you next time on New Franklin's news.

*No real interview was conducted.

Miah:
During writing today, we are writing persuasive essays and we need to have four supporting sentences, a brief topic sentence, and a conclusion sentence. Some kids genuinely want electronics, pets and fewer subjects in school. So, we are taking weeks to make these persuasive essays our best! We hope you appreciate reading them!

Shane:
What is up with Tilton basketball team? Saturday night Tilton and Lee go head on in an outstanding game. Both teams scored over 50 points. Crazy passes, crazy dunks, crazy three point dunks. In the last 6.5 seconds, a three pointer by number 2 was missed. Number 7 comes up with nobody on him and dunks it. That gave them 98 to 56 points on the board. I'm thinking their hands are still hurting. I think the hoop is still shaking from the dunks.
Grace:
Recently some kids finished an essay. Now, they are writing blogs. Hugh is keeping you up to date on the school's sports, Cassandra with Student Council, Derek with Peace Scholars, Shane with the Saturday night game, Mackenzie with vocabulary, and Miah is keeping us up to date on class essays. More people will start making blogs soon! Thanks and that's all the news for now!

Cassandra:
Today, January 31st, was Student Council voting day! From Mrs. McGuigan/Carr's classroom the runners are Cassandra (me), Julia, Max and Mackenzie. What we had to do to run was we had to write a speech and recite it in front of the class. Surprisingly, no one made a poster or buttons or anything to give out. The responsibilities of Student Council are: the first term (September-January) does a Thanksgiving food drive and a Christmas wish list drive. The second term (February - June) sells kisses for Valentine's Day. Both terms do school store to help raise money for the fifth grade Environmental Camp.

Derek:
Mrs. Testa-Cutting comes into our class on Mondays to tell us about Peace Scholars. We have a 58 page workbook on it. Peace Scholars is about win/win, lose/win, lose/lose, and win/lose and how to get along with others. We learn to care for friends, family and even teachers. We spend 30 minutes with this each Monday.
